At the moment, the "friends only" stuff is all just personal junk...and a ridiculous number of personality quizzes, memes, and general time-wasters. But really, it's okay to friend me! I don't bite...hard. Often. Without provocation. In particularly painful places. *Grins toothily*

Okay y'all, this is just more news on the Prop 8 thing, for those of you that don't get it on local news. There were protests all over last night, the biggest one being in Hollywood and West Hollywood. There are already lawsuits filed, and we are fighting this. I'm trying to find news that will speak more in depth about how exactly gay rights proponents, but I'm mostly just finding vague articles that bascially say "Some People Are Doing Stuff".

Despite the lack of actual *helpful* news (it seems most of the local news channels don't want to catch teh ghei), I'm feeling hopeful. Prop 22, which said basically the same thing, was overturned back in June. Prop 8 will be overturned as well. And if the courts are too chiken-shit to do it (the vote was four to three last time, so they may very well not repeal it in court), we'll bring it to vote again and we will WIN this time.

Edit: I keep swearing I'm not going to post here anymore but...ah, well. I guess I'm staying. ;) (Now watch me go silent for several months)

I'm trying not to freak out, but I feel like crying. It's only 18% of the votes in, there's still time to turn things around, but right now the vote is at 54% Yes and 46% No.

I can't believe that my fellow Californians could be this cruel. I'm trying to hold out hope. Will edit this post later.

Edit: Oh Lord, I know I live in a hopelessly conservative town when we make the bloody news. The L.A. Times has an article, and not a short one either, dedicated only to how ugly things have gotten in Temecula and Murrieta over Prop 8. Right now 86% of votes are counted and Yes is leading 51.8% to 48.2%. I keep hoping that we'll close the gap, but I know that most of the counties still counting are the rural, Republican communities. All I can keep thinking is that Gay Rights Representatives just keep saying that even if we lose here, all civil rights movements have had setbacks, and we can still win in the long run. But for now it is 3:30am, I have rehearsal in the morning, and I'm a very sad a dissapointed Californian. Good night, all.

Edit Edit: Prop 8 passed. 52% to 48%. I can't even be happy about Obama winning with this to spoil it. I hate Californians.

Hey guys, just letting you know that my insanejournal account is probably going to be my main one now (whatever that means). I've been posting so little as it is that this message probably isn't necessary, but I haven't seen much fan activity going on here (maybe it's just because I haven't been paying much attention?) and I'm seeing more activity back on insanejournal. I'd really like to get active, or what I try to convince myself passes for active, in fandom again. So, I'm leaving this journal up so I can keep in touch with people, but I most likely won't be posting here any longer.

I just wish I could take some of the pretty from here over to there...insanejournal is ugly, and I don't know enough about coding to create a pretty layout. ;_;

I'm working on another original (at last!) and going through the basic "name-everything" stage. For whatever reason, this is one of the hardest parts of writing for me--coming up with names that sound specific enough to characters and places that I (and the readers) will remember who and what they are, but not so out there that my characters sound like B-movie stars, and the town some kind of theme park. What sort of strategies do you use to name people/places/things in your stories?

Does anyone on my friend's list have a good understanding of Spanish? I have three years of Spanish classes and several Spanish dictionaries, but I'm not quite sure if I'm conjugating things correctly. Since it's for a fic, I'd prefer not to put the fic out with egregious errors in it. ~_^

Chapter Two is actually Balthier's chapter...but his voice is all screwy. Honestly, I didn't really like it when I posted it on ff.net, and I like it even less now, so it's gonna get redone. So here's a chapter of a character that I don't like quite so much. ;P

The fact that this ficbit shares a title with a movie about voyeurism (amongst other things) is accidental and irrelevant. This is, regrettably, cleaner than a christian rock concert.
